European Leaders Decry US Action as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders such as the French president accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, after the travel bans were placed on figures who have been central to efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.
“For far too long, European activists have led coordinated campaigns to pressure US companies to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated the US secretary of state online. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined the French president in criticizing the decision.
The bans were enacted on Tuesday on an ex-European commissioner who helped draft the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with several activists fighting false information, from two in Germany and two in the UK.
